new year, new website

hi hello i am alive (i think)

My author website has been in dire need of an update for quite a while now. I hadn’t really changed it much since I first made it in 2020. So, behold, the new and improved emroywrites.com!

It’s nothing special but makes me feel nostalgic and cozy. This theme reminds me of my Tumblr blog from middle through high school. A little bit of a reference to early 2010s internet culture, and also built with the mindset of the original Blair Witch Project website which convinced many people that the film was a real found footage documentary. That website from 1999 is long gone now, but it is on the Wayback Machine if you wanna check it out.

Anyways, happy 2024. The end of 2023 ended up marking quite a big change for me in regards to my career. It’s scary. But I am, for the first time in a while, excited for what the future may hold. And also comfortable with the uncertainty of it. I’m at a place in my life where I trust myself to be able to adapt to whatever’s thrown in front of me and come out the other side. I’ve always been a meticulous (i.e.: anxious) planner (it’s how I managed to squeeze four years of a bachelor’s degree into three), but this year I’m trying to be patient and take things as they come.

Things will work out. Not because I believe in fate or predestination, because I definitely don’t. But because, goddammit, I have books to read and stories to write and films to watch, and I’m gonna stick around to do the things that make me happy.
